HERE WE GO AGAIN, another new year. if you have been promising yourself that this will be the year, this could be your time for results. If you have spent most of your New Year’s resolution on outcome goals—i.e. I will lose X amount of weight—or if you are asking yourself to do this is an “outcome goal” each year, it’s time to change your approach.
It’s best to start by understanding that whatever approach you follow, it will be for the rest of your life. You can be as active as you want. To help you understand how you can begin to be active for results, plan to attend my free seminar 10-11 a.m. Jan. 4. At DEMOR System, 5001 Birch Street, Newport Beach CA 92660; seating is limited, so please call 949-861-4378 to sign up. In the meantime, let’s look at some factors that you can start to think about before the meeting. By being active you will start getting fit than you have been. When you are, you will reach a point that you are committed to maintaining your effort. When you are committed to maintaining your effort there is no need to ask yourself “What next?” Or, “Where do you go from here?” If you put in your mind that this year will be the year to maintain an active life, make sure you look at how your attitude toward this approach may stimulate you in all other parts of your life. You can start by making a mental note of how you feel before each day of active workout. Then note how you feel during your active workout. Lastly, make sure that you note how you feel after you finish your active workout. These mental notes are cues to understanding how your mind thinks about what your body is doing. Just keep in mind that an effective way to maintain a confident and positive outlook during this time of year is to take a brisk walk or visit your local gym or club and work your stress and anxiety out. It is also important that you do the following:
Remember that it is vital that you look at yourself closely. Know what motivates you and what gets in your way. Know how to set your goals and how to strive for them. And, most importantly, learn to accept yourself. I think that the most important advice that I can offer is to start or continue an active life for results you must be motivated from within. I’m not offering advice for you to look like someone else; I’m offering advice and the chance to be the healthiest you can and to enjoy your life in the process. Just as I hope you will learn, I first had to understand as much as I could about -a healthy lifestyle and how I wanted my life to be. I had to look at what motivated me and what my aims were. For me, there was a big difference between knowing what I should want for myself and what I was willing to do to achieve it. As I was more able to define my own needs and desires (aims) and what I was willing to act on, I was able to recognize barriers and remove them. This is an approach I choose to do for the rest of my life for results.
Therefore, if you are committed to using this approach the rest of your life, you will learn how to eat healthfully but not deprive yourself or feel guilty about the foods that are not considered healthy, but that taste good to you, you will set up an active workout schedule to follow, but not compare your body with an unrealistic look that you know is genetically impossible for you to obtain. You will work out within your body’s capacity and achieve balance. You will also learn that being able to reflect on how you feel and think on a daily basis will help you achieve mental fitness.
